If the enemy has a lot of resistances, consider getting Crippling Headshot
If they have a lot of Healing, consider one of the anti-healing items
Sell Heroic Aura for Vampiric Burst.

Anti-Healing
If the enemy keeps healing more than you damage them, consider one of those! You can easily buy Decay, as your Spirit Slots aren't as important in this build.
Need more? GET MORE!
Those items are various options to spice up your power! Consider Crippling Headshot if the enemy has a lot of resistances, and Silencer if the enemy has a lot of Spirit Damage.

The 4th build in the "Concerns of The Deep" series.
This one is oriented around your gun. You'll be lowering the enemy's resistances so much, they won't be able to outlast you!
