Early- Mid game

Monster Rounds are optional; if bought, replace them later with Tesla Bullets
Once you unlock a flex slot, get Heroic Aura, then choose Improved Cooldown or Ethereal Shift based on your matchup
(Explanation below the build.)

optional sustain

If you're on a solo lane, Bullet Lifesteal is worth considering, and the extra regen item adds ammo, which is nice
Otherwise, you might want to skip this item section if you are on a duo lane, aside from Divine Barrier, which is solid in any game, but prioritize core items first.

Mid- To Late (Let's Get your Turrets working)

If you've bought Superior Stamina, you can replace Kinetic Dash with Spiritual Overflow or Just buy Mystic Reverb if you have slots for it

Just something to look at. You propably won't be buying these Maybe replace spirit lifesteal with Leech.

Counter items:

These items are listed here incase you have a trouble with a spefic match up
But note: try to avoid blue items since you really need those slots
Green items on the other hand: go ahead
Healbane is super good almost in every match where the enemy has heals and lifesteal.

Core Playstyle:

Max her turret first, put one point into healing (for turret fire rate), then max her wall for AOE stuns
Early game, focus on gun damage, as her turrets are weak and her scaling is slow
Managing stamina and movement is key—use slides to secure last hits
Once you get a 1,250 soul item or Monster Rounds, this issue eases, but early fire rate, mobility, and wave clear are crucial.

Early Game Items (Buy in Any Order):

Early game, you should prioritize items that enhance your damage, mobility, and sustain
Basic Magazine boosts your damage output, while Monster Rounds (optional) helps with wave and jungle clearing
Active Reload provides a +20% fire rate and 18% lifesteal, offering better sustain than Quicksilver Reload
Kinetic Dash grants another +20% fire rate along with a mobility boost, while Extra Stamina further improves mobility
Lastly, Healing Rite ensures early-game sustain, helping you stay in fights longer
Once you hit 3,000 souls, sell Monster Rounds (if taken) and buy Tesla Bullets, which grants +14% Fire Rate and later synergizes with Mystic Vulnerability and Escalating Exposure.

Mid-Game: Key Item – Heroic Aura:

A must-have for McGinnis, this item provides a +40% turret fire rate with an additional +25% when activated, +18% bullet lifesteal for sustain, +150 bullet shield health for better survivability, and a +1m/s movement speed boost for increased mobility
Its active ability further enhances team fights, making it an essential part of her kit.

Maximizing Turret effectiveness:

To maximize turret effectiveness, Mystic Vulnerability increases spirit damage, while Extra Charge (later upgraded to Rapid Recharge) allows for more turrets
Mystic Reach extends turret range, reducing downtime and increasing overall damage
Enchantress Barrier provides a spirit shield along with an 8% cooldown reduction, and Spirit Lifesteal boosts sustain, keeping McGinnis in fights longer.

Matchup-Based Choices:

Improved Cooldown is the ideal choice for more turrets and walls, but sometimes you might be forced to buy Ethereal Shift for extra survivability and fight initiation
Since McGinnis lacks defensive options, Ethereal Shift becomes crucial in certain matchups, helping to stall, dodge abilities, and bait enemies into wasting their skills.

Why Ethereal Shift?

McGinnis lacks defensive tools, making this essential for stalling, tanking abilities, and baiting enemies into wasting their skills
It’s especially effective against: Ultimates: Abrams, Calico, Gray Talon, Infernus, Lash, Shiv, Wraith
Abilities: Bebop (Sticky Bomb, Hook), Holliday (Barrel Rape Combo), Seven (Static Charge),Yamato (Power Slash ), Lash (Death Slam), Warden,(Binding Word) etc.

Final Purchase:

Once your build is complete, get Soul Shredder Bullets, upgrading to Spell Slinger Headshots for max efficiency.

McGinnis Build Description

To play McGinnis proficiently, you need to be extra mindful of your stamina economy and make full use of every bit of movement she has. Since her gun damage doesn’t scale well early on, you really have to take advantage of sliding to deal enough damage to troopers so you can last-hit them as well. This issue becomes less of a problem once you've purchased a 1,250 soul item or Monster Rounds, but because her turrets are weak in the early game and she lacks defensive capabilities aside from her wall, it’s absolutely essential to buy items that provide fire rate, mobility, and wave clear.
Next time you start a match, consider buying the following early-game items in any order:
• Basic Magazine – Good for damage output.
• Monster Rounds – Helps with wave clear and clearing jungle creeps (optional).
• Active Reload – Great conditional item: +20% Fire Rate and 18% lifesteal. (I know some people argue that Quicksilver Reload is better, but the lifesteal is too good to skip, in my opinion.)
• Kinetic Dash – Another great conditional item: +20% Fire Rate and a very useful mobility tool.
• Extra Stamina – More mobility.
• Healing Rite – Provides early-game sustain.
Once you’ve accumulated 3,000 souls, sell Monster Rounds (if you have it) and buy Tesla Bullets, which give you +14% fire rate. Later, this will also help with proccing Mystic Vulnerability and Escalating Exposure.
When you unlock the next flex slot, buy Heroic Aura. This is a must-have item for McGinnis because it gives you almost everything you need:
• +40% turret fire rate (+25% additional fire rate when using the active).
• +18% bullet lifesteal (very useful).
• +150 bullet shield health (good for survivability).
• +1m/s movement speed (more mobility is always beneficial).
• The active ability makes it an incredibly strong tool for team fights.
Getting Your Turrets Working
To maximize your turret effectiveness, you’ll need the following items:
• Mystic Vulnerability – More spirit damage for your turrets.
• Extra Charge (later upgrade to Rapid Recharge) – More turrets.
• Mystic Reach – More range = less idle time for turrets = more damage.
• Enchantress Barrier – The spirit shield is useful since McGinnis lacks mobility, and the 8% cooldown reduction is nice.
• Spirit Lifesteal – More sustain.
Depending on your matchup, you should then buy either:
• Improved Cooldown – More turrets and walls.
• Ethereal Shift – If you need extra survivability.
Why Ethereal Shift?
McGinnis lacks defensive abilities and mobility, making Ethereal Shift a valuable tool. It helps stall enemies in various situations and allows you to wait for cooldowns to reset. Additionally, it can provide crucial extra time to mitigate enemy damage.
One thing people seem to overlook about Ethereal Shift is that it’s also an excellent fight initiation tool. When engaging an enemy, you can bait them into using their abilities on you, only for them to realize they’ve just wasted them.
It’s particularly useful for countering the following matchups and abilities:
• Abrams – Seismic Impact (Ultimate)
• Bebop – Sticky Bomb, Hook (if unavoidable)
• Calico – Return to Shadows (Ultimate)
• Gray Talon – Guided Owl (Ultimate)
• Holliday – Barrel Rape Combo
• Infernus – Concussive Combustion (Ultimate)
• Lash – Death Slam (Ultimate), Ground Strike (good counter)
• Seven – Static Charge (Stun)
• Shiv – Killing Blow (Ultimate)
• Warden – Binding Word (Immobilize)
• Wraith – Telekinesis (Ultimate, Immobilize)
• Yamato – Power Slash (Ethereal Shift helps block these)
• Various Items – Knockdown (Stun)
Final Purchase
Once your core build is complete, buy Soul Shredder Bullets and upgrade them to Spell Slinger Headshots.
